          Founder Chairman

It was first established as MARKS ENT clinic in year 1995 by the founder Chairman of MARKS Group Late Brig. Gen. M Masudur Rahman Khan an eminent ENT- Head & Neck Surgeon of the country. A visionary who realized the importance of heath care in the Country and dedicated himself to the service of humanity. He decided to establish a Dental College in year 2007 and later on established MARKS Medical College in year 2011. MARKS Dental College became a sister Concern of MARKS Medical College and hospital in year 2015 since then this institute is providing quality Medical and Dental education.

MARKS Medical College and Dental Unit Introduction

MARKS Medical College established in year 2011. Started its journey with enrollment of 50 medical students. At present the number has increased to 70 students and this was possible only because of very good qualitative academic performance. Ministry Of Health Bangladesh satisfied by its performance allocated 20 more seats to this college in the year. Now the total students enrolled is 70 of which 40% is allocated to foreign students. In MARKS Dental Unit total number of students enrolled each year is 50 of which 40% is allocated to foreign students. Undergraduate degree in Medical and Dental Unit is awarded under university of Dhaka.

MARKS Medical College is approved by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Govt. of Bangladesh. Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BM&DC) and affiliated to University of Dhaka.

Aims and Objectives of The College Aims

To create graduate scholar in medical discipline who can meet the demand of Modern Health care services in any situation, with high level of competency and commitment and can perform in country as well as in any standard institute of the word.

MBBS: The MBBS course has duration of five (5) years and follows the National Curriculum (Prepared by BMDC). The academic programming has been designed to cover all aspects of medical sciences. BSC Nursing (Basic): The BSC nursing course has duration four (4) years. BSC Nursing (Post Basic): Two (2) years. Medical Technology Diploma in Nursing Sciences Midwifery Three (3) Years.

Payment of all college dues such as tuition fees etc. Passed all subjects in pervious professional MBBS examination (2nd, 3rd & Final). After passing MBBS 1 year internship in compulsory.

Admission Criteria for Bangladeshi Student

SSC, HSC/GCE,O & A Level or 12th Grade with equivalent certificate from Directorate General Heath can apply for admission in MBBS & BDS Course. Minimum GPA aggregate SSC or equivalent Examination- 7.00 (Seven). Minimum GPA either in SSC or equivalent or in HSC or equivalent 3.00. Minimum GPA in biology 3.5. For calculation of GPA against the marks obtained in SSC/O level or equivalent exam, only top five subjects are considered for calculation of GPA. There for, GPA in SSC/O or equivalent exam/ total marks obtained in top five subjects ÷ 5. For calculation of GPA in HSC/A level or equivalent only three subjects (Physics, Chemistry & Biology) are considered for calculation of GPA. Qualifying grade in each subject individually is ‘C’ Calculation of GPA in HSC/A or equivalent ÷ total marks obtained in three subjects ÷ 3 Application should be submitted in the prescribed form available form DGHS website (dghs.gov.bd). (dghs.gov.bd) and consulate of Bangladesh. (www.bangladeshconsulatela.com). Application should be submitted in the prescribed form available form DGHS website (www.dghs.gov.bd). Attested copies of certificates and mark sheets etc have to be submitted along with the application. All certificates and mark sheets must be attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. No application will be accepted without attestations. To ensure citizenship of foreign students, attested copies of passport must be submitted along the applications. The certificates/ mark sheets and other testimonials need to be attested by the respective country’s education board/ education Ministry. Candidates interested in seeking admission in MARKS Medical College need to mention the name of college in their application. Attested Photostat copies of the certificate of SSC/O level examination. Attested Photostat copies of provisional certificate of HSC/A level examination. Mark Sheet of S.S.C & H.S.C examination or equivalent examination. Six copies of recent passport size photograph of the candidates. A character certificate from the head of the institute last attended. Attested photocopy of National ID Card/ Passport. Solvency certificate of the Guardian from any financial Bank. In Case foreign Students: Equivalence Certificate from DGHS & Photocopy of passport. Original Academic certificates/Documents in the college is mandatory.

Admission Process

Director General of Health Services (DGHS), Government of the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh conducts a central written admission test at the national level for admission in the government and non-government Medical College each year. They publish a merit list for eligible candidates. The authority of MARKS Medical College selects the students according to the merit list from the students who applied for admission in MMC. The selected candidates will be examined by a medical board for physical fitness. The medical board will be formed by the Principal of MARKS Medical College.Director General of Health Services (DGHS), Government of the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh conducts a central written admission test at the national level for admission in the government and non-government Medical College each year. Forms and Prospectus

Prescribed admission forms and prospectus is available at office of principal MARKS Medical College and Dental Unit on payment of Tk- 1,000/- for Bangladeshi Students . For foreign students each applicants must attach with his/her application a non-refundable Demand Draft or Telegraphic Transfer (TT) of US $60 payable to: “The Director, Medical Education and HMPD, DGHS, Mohakhali, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Three copies of duly filled applications forms along with the following documents should be sent to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dhaka: Copy of Passport Six passport size photographs All certificates duly attached by competent authority, i.e.the Education Ministry of the respective country and also to be authenticated by the respective Bangladesh Missions abroad/ Foreign Missions based in Dhaka. Admission, Tuition and Incidental fees All payments are to be made in full at the time of admission. All payments made at the time of admission are non-refundable. Tuition fee is payable on monthly basis within the first week of each month. Failure of payment on the due date will result in fine on a daily basis. If monthly fees are delayed by more than one month, students name will be removed from the attendance register. The name of the student will be removed from the college register if tuition fees are not paid for two months consecutively. In such case, the student has to pay re-admission fees to get re-enrollment.

Re-admission Fees

If a student’s name is struck off from the college register due to nonpayment of dues or disciplinary cause, he/she may be re-admitted on recommendation from the governing body on full payment of arrear dues plus Tk. 7000/- (Seven thousand taka) only as readmission fees for Bangladeshi students and US $500/- (Five hundred) for foreign student.

Distribution of Seats General quota

Fifty Eight Present (58%) seats are available for the Bangladeshi candidates who can get Admission according to the merit score of Medical Admission Test published by DGHS, MOHFW.

Freedom Fighter

Two percent (2%) seats will be available for wards of freedom fighters. For these seats, attested photo-copy of appropriate documents should be submitted along with the admission form.

Governing Body

Five percent (5%) seats will be available for the Governing Body authority. The college authority will make necessary arrangements regarding selection of candidates under the category.

Poor and Meritorious

Five percent (5%) seats will be available for the poor and meritorious category.

Foreign Students

Thirty percent (40%) seats are available for overseas students according to MOHFW mandate.

Documents to be submitted by the candidates

Completed prescribed admission form. Photocopies of HSC or equivalent certificate, mark sheet/academic transcript HSC and testimonial. Four recent color passport size attested photographs Photocopy of MBBS examination admit card and result (website copy) Original money receipt of application form.

Undertaking in the form of Bond

At the time of admission into the college students and parents/ guardians will have to give an undertaking on non-judicial stamp papers regarding the terms and conditions of the code of conduct and disciplines during the tenure of MBBS course.

Rules and regulations

All the students studying in MARKS Medical College & Dental Unit have to abide by the following rules and regulations. They will maintain discipline inside the campus. Up hold moral values. Will not restore to addiction, alcohol, gambling or any other unlawful activity which’s punishable by law. Will not participate in any political activity either inside or out-side the campus/ processions / shouting /closing of college/ hospital doors are prohibited and students involved in those activities are liable to be expelled from college. Smoking/ drinking (alcohol drugs) are prohibited inside the campus. Eve teasing / stalking of female students and ragging of fellow students inside college/ in hostel is strictly prohibited. Any such act is punishable. All disciplinary actions are taken by academic council, the highest academic body of the college. Students must not misbehave with the staff or employees of the college. Misbehavior is an act of in discipline and liable for punishment. Receiving private coaching from any teacher of MARKS Medical College is prohibited. If any student or his/her guardian seeks private coaching from any teacher of this institution and if it is proved, he/she (student) may face dismissal from studentship/expulsion from the examination or from college register. Cost of loss/damage to college/hospital property is liable to be realized from the student who is found responsible for the loss/damage of the college/hospital property. Use of any kind of smart phone or laptop/tablet computer is prohibited in the classrooms and campus. Absence from classes individually or in mass without prior information and without valid reasons are punishable. Students will state their problems/ grievances/ inconvenience to their respective departmental teachers/ mentor. Mentor will solve the problem of the students or refer them to the head of the department.

Conduct and Discipline

Students must maintain strict discipline in the college. On disciplinary grounds the following penalties may be imposed on a students, depending on nature of the offence:
  1. Warning
  2. Fines
  3. Expulsion from the college, temporarily or permanent
  4. Any other as decided by the college academic council.
A Students name may be removed from the college Register under the following circumstance: Remaining absent from classes for consecutive two months without any information the student needs to take re-admission in such condition. Disciplinary ground, on the advice of the Academic Council. Non-payment of college dues for consecutive three months form the due date of payment.

Dress Code

Students have to carry their “IDENTITY CARDS” while in college Campus. Wearing of apron is mandatory while in college campus. Students are expected to be well groomed, cleanly dressed up, well cut-hair and nails, boys with shoes. Use of cosmetics, fashionable dress, untidy clothes and unkempt hair, dirty and long nails not desired. Every student shall provide for himself/ all the prescribed text-books, dissecting instruments medical equipments. College will not-supply these. Students can avail facility of books from library-provided they maintain a library card and abide by library rules regulations of the Library. Students are supposed to pay their tuition fees by 10th of each month. If delay in payment of monthly tuition fees they will have to pay a fine of tk-500/- per month.

Information for the Parents/Guardians

There are four professional examinations in MBBS Curriculum. There are two sessions of Professional MBBS Examination in a year, i.e. in May and November and August and February for BDS professional examinations. Parents should look after the student whether they are attending their classes, item exams, term exams, as they are required to complete and pass all term exams. Seventy five percent (75%) class attendance is required to be eligible for the each professional examination. The tuition fee per month should be paid within the first week of every month. Failure of payment within due date is liable to pay a late fee per day along with the dues. For delay in payment for more than one month name of the particular student will be removed from the Attendance Register. The name of the student will be removed from the college Register if the payment is not given for three months consecutively. After successfully passing final professional MBBS examination, students have to complete on year Internship Training in MARKS Medical College Hospital to get registration from Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC)

Accommodation facilities

There are two separate accommodation facilities for boys and girls. The rooms are comprising of double bed and triple bed. The accommodation facilities will be provided subject to the availability. However, seats are reserved for foreign students.

Holidays and Leaves

Yearly holidays are as per the official holidays sanctioned by Govt. Of Bangladesh. Leave in case of illness/ any others unavoidable reason, Student or his/her parents/ guardian should Submit an application to the principal forwarded by departmental head as early as possible and student should give prior information through mobile. Delay or non-submission of application / leave without valid reason are punishable by fine of Tk-1,000/-
